Brad's Coffee Break  javamug.gif (3763 bytes)

Hello, food lovers!  I'm Brad and I am so glad you coChef Braduld join me.  Cooking is one of my passions which I got from my Grandmother, Verna Scobey.  She was a wonderful cook and never used a recipe; she had all the kitchen knowledge she ever needed right in her head.  I wish I inherited that talent but it must be akin to a person who can play piano by ear but can't read a note.  Some people are just gifted with a sense for that which is second nature to them.

Find out more about Your Host,  Brad by visiting my biography.

While life is great, there are some things that don't make sense to me.  Join me in my new section, Brad's Thoughts, for a bit of tongue-in-cheek witticisms about life in the 21st Century!

coverThe book that I am recommending this month is The Fannie Farmer Cookbook.  If you would like to order the book, please click on the Hardcover.  It will be greatly appreciated!

Now for some tips and more chat:

Tip #1
Did you know that equal parts of evaporated milk and water can take the place of milk in any of your recipes?

The love of cooking is a passion shared by many people.  Although the term "Chef" is reserved for those that have earned a degree in cooking, I feel that many people who take the art of cooking to a higher level should at least be called a "faux" Chef!  Believe me, I have received many e-mails chiding me for calling myself a chef.  We will leave this subject alone, as I don't wish to irritate anyone further.

Tip #2
A quick and easy way to make whipped-cream is by chilling a metal bowl in the freezer.  Place the bowl in another bowl that has ice cubes in it.  Your whipped-cream will be easier to make than ever before!

I know a lot of people who say their favorite thing to make for dinner is reservations.  Personally, I like to know where my food came from and how it was prepared.  More importantly, I like to know that my meal, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, is exactly how I want it.  I don't know what you think, but I believe that cooking is an art that can be learned by anyone.

Tip #3
Want to decorate your kitchen and turn it into a Caribbean oasis?  Visit Paul, The Wise Gardener and find out how!

Well, food lovers, I will stop here for now.  I invite you to please come back soon; and share some of your thoughts with me as well; I would love to hear from fellow food lovers about their own tips and recipes.  Please sign the guestbook before you leave or you can E-mail me at: brad@oldetimecooking.com.   Thanks!
