SUGAR JUMBOS

When my Mom-mom Scobey How about a fresh-baked Sugar Jumbo?baked these wonderful buttery-sweet cookies, I was always on my best behavior!  Enjoy them as they are or add M&MsŪ, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, raisins or nuts to the batter; sprinkle colored sugar or "sprinkles" on top; or just let your imagination go wild.  Enjoy with a glass of cold milk or do as I do... go dunking!

                                Your Host,  Brad

1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 TBL milk or 1/2 and 1/2
1 1/8 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt

Beat shortening, butter and sugar together until golden yellow.  Add the egg, vanilla and milk.  Beat until blended.  Sift (if you must) flour, baking powder and salt together.  Add a little at a time to cream mixture until done.

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Place by teaspoonfuls 3" apart on a greased cookie sheet.  Cook for 10-12 minutes per batch.  Make about 5 dozen.
